Prince George's County, Maryland Arrest Records

A Prince George’s County arrest record shows that an individual has been arrested by law enforcement. These documents are created by the Prince George's County Police Department,  the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office,  the Laurel Police Department, and other local enforcement agencies during the arrest and booking of individuals suspected of criminal acts.

In compliance with the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA), Prince George's County arrest records are accessible to all interested parties.  While these documents do not establish guilt for criminal actions, they promote accountability, transparency, and public insight into criminal activity trends.

Beyond the MPIA, the collection and dissemination of criminal history information in Prince George’s County and across Maryland is governed by Section 10-201 through 10-299 of the Maryland Code of Criminal Procedure. This law establishes how individuals access criminal offender records information across the state. 

Are Arrest Records Public Information in Prince George's, Maryland?

Yes, arrest records are public in Prince George’s County. The Maryland Public Information Act grants public access to Prince George’s County arrest records and other government records. Active Warrant Search in Prince George's County

An arrest warrant is a legal order authorizing law enforcement to apprehend and detain an individual suspected of  criminal activity or someone who has disobeyed court orders. In Prince George’s County,  District Court Commissioners and judges issue arrest warrants if warrant seekers prove probable cause or there are court-related violations.

Typically, a valid arrest warrant specifies:

How to Find Arrest Records for Free in Prince George's County

While Prince George’s County does not maintain a free public online arrest database, record seekers can access the county’s arrest records for free through the Maryland Judiciary Case Access portal. This search tool permits access to criminal case records, which includes arrest information. 

Interested parties can also request free in-person inspection of these documents during office hours under the Maryland Public Information Act. Additionally, the Prince George's County Police Department may provide daily arrest reports or release press conferences on recent arrests. 

Yes, there are several pathways to access Prince George’s County arrest records at no cost. Nonetheless, interested parties should note that free-tier sources are limited in scope. For instance, most free search tools may exclude older records, and users need to provide the subject's identifying information to aid the search process.  Additionally, information seekers cannot access redacted information contained in arrest records through free sources. 

Prince George's County Arrest Report

Prince George’s County arrest reports provide a firsthand account of arrest within the county. These documents are distinct from arrest records. While arrest records are high-level summary documents that display identifying information,  charges,  and booking details, arrest reports provide a more comprehensive description of events. Generally, the content of an arrest report includes:

  • Narrative description of the arrest incident 
  • Timeline of events leading up to the arrest 
  • The arresting officer’s observations and actions 
  • Statements from witnesses and the suspect 
  • Evidence collected 
  • Probable cause for the arrest 
  • Additional investigative details.

Per the Maryland Public Information Act, Prince George's County arrest reports are public records. However, access to these documents requires FOI requests. Furthermore, law enforcement agencies may redact certain information from arrest reports before individuals can access them, or deny access if public disclosure will compromise active investigations. 

How to Get an Arrest Record Expunged in George's County

According to Maryland Code, Criminal Procedure Article, Title 10, Subtitle 1, a Prince George's County arrest record qualifies for expungement if:

  • There are no charges. 
  • The arrest resulted in a dismissal,  an acquittal, or a nolle prosequi.
  • The state indefinitely postponed the case (usually after a 3-year wait period).
  • The arrestee completes Probation Before Judgment (PBJ) and observes a 3-year waiting period after discharge. 
  • The arrest is for an eligible misdemeanor or felony, the arrestee serves the sentence for the crime, observes the applicable waiting period, and has no pending criminal cases. 

For arrests without charges,  Section 10-103 of the Maryland Criminal Procedure Article mandates automatic expungement if the event occurred on or after October 1, 2007. While individuals can petition for expungement if their arrests were before October 1, 2007.

To expunge a Prince George's County arrest record:

  • Determine if the record is eligible for expungement.
  • Obtain the case information, including the case number, disposition, and the specific Prince George’s County court that handled the case. 
  • Depending on the outcome of the case, fill out a Form CC-DC-CR-072A (non-conviction arrest), CC-DC-CR-072B (guilty conviction), or General Waiver and Release Form (CC-DC-CR-078) if seeking expungement before the normal waiting period. 
  • If the case was handled by the Prince George’s County Circuit Court, submit the completed form and the accompanying documents to the Clerk of the Circuit Court Office at:

  • If there is no objection, the judge will sign the expungement order, and law enforcement agencies and other custodians have 60 days to remove the record from their databases. 

How Do You Remove George's County Arrest Records From the Internet?

Removing Prince George's County arrest records from the internet means making it unavailable on official databases and inaccessible through third-party websites. In Maryland, expungement of an arrest record does not translate to removal from unofficial platforms. Expunged records may still appear on private websites. 

To remove a Prince George's County arrest record from the internet:

  • Expunge the record through the appropriate court.
  • Verify the removal of the information from official databases using government sources.
  • Identify and submit removal requests to the third-party platforms that have the arrest record. The requests should include copies of the expungement order and identifying documents, and URLs publishing the arrest record.
